I’m a member of the Society of Virtual Assistants, and they have created this informative video on what a Virtual Assistant is and does. This should answer all your questions, but if not, I’ve also added some written FAQs below. If there’s anything else you would like to know, please get in touch.
What is a Virtual Assistant?
A Virtual Assistant (VA) is self-employed and can deliver services virtually to a variety of businesses and industries anywhere in the world.
Why hire a VA?
Most people hire a VA because their business expands and they need a helping hand. VAs can also be a godsend when an employee suddenly goes off sick, or for planned absences, such as maternity leave or holidays.
Will it be costly to hire a VA?
Not at all. In fact it’s a cost-effective solution as you only pay for the hours that a VA works.
My rates start from £20 per hour and if you compare the cost of hiring a VA against the cost of an employee, where an employer has to provide an office (with overheads); scheduled breaks; a salary; insurance; holiday and bank holiday pay, etc… there’s no contest!
I don’t know how long I’ll need a VA
No problem. I can be flexible to suit your needs. It doesn’t matter if you need me for a small one-off project, or for several months at a time. Get in touch and let me know your initial requirement and we’ll take it from there.
How do I pay for these services?
I will invoice you on a monthly basis and payment is by BACS or PayPal.
Do VAs always work remotely?
Most of the work I do is done remotely. However, depending on the client’s wishes and the location, I may visit, or undertake a limited amount of work on site.
